New Beginnings

If you're reading this post, thank you.

Thank you for not deleting me from your google reader, canceling your email subscription, or for just checking back in. It's been awhile, hasn't it? I took a hiatus from blogging because things have been a little hectic for me in the past 9 months. I won't bore you with details, but the overall gist is this: I became pregnant with baby #2 early last summer, we sold our house in Winston-Salem, my husband got a new job in Raleigh, we moved to Raleigh over Christmas, welcomed sweet baby James in February, and we're currently living with my parents while we renovate our new house, which should be ready at the end of June. Whew. Lots of major life changes- all great, so I'm not complaining. But, as you can imagine, blogging hasn't been on my mind much throughout all of this transition.

But when we started planning for the renovation of our new home, I knew it was time to revive the blog. There's nothing I love more than a good home remodeling project and seeing "before & afters" makes me positively giddy. So I figured y'all might also enjoy seeing the metamorphosis of our little house...yes?

I'm so excited about this project, for so many reasons. Mainly that it's going to be a wonderful home for our family, and it's such a fun privilege to be able to make it our own through the renovation process. It's a 1970s split level that has had only one owner and no updates. So it pretty much looks exactly what you're imagining it to, complete with orange linoleum floors and some pretty awesome red shag carpet. Some people might think we're crazy for buying it- it's certainly not much to look at right now (to say the least). But as the saying goes, we value location, location, location- and in that department, this house was right up our alley. Nestled at the bottom of a cul-de-sac in a great school district, we felt it was the perfect place to raise our boys. So we signed the papers with our vision goggles on and now it's ours.

And, here she is...

Now... let's get to work.
